I'm back!! It is so lovely being in holiday mode - we are all very relaxed in this house at the moment. I finally got my Rose Star quilt together (below) and off to the machine quilter to be basted in time for me to tackle the handquilting during the school holidays - sadly on it's return it was not properly basted and is currently back with her being unpicked and redone. I am really happy with it and can't wait the start on the handquilting.

To fill the gap I finished another easy quilt for one of my daughters - she picked all the fabrics and I have spent the last two weeks hand quilting it in perle cotton. Just need to finish the binding tomorrow. It is from a pattern by Hot Possum.
I have been going through my WIPs and have decided this is the year to finish my Quilted Diamonds quilt. I have finished all the diamonds, it just needs putting together. Below is just the middle section. It was started in 2003 so now is that time to complete it.

I imagine you have all heard about the terrible floodings in Australia - I am also about to make a couple of quilts to send off to these people. A way I can help in a tiny way.

See you all soon....
Gosh I am not very good at making the time to update my blog. In my defence we have moved house and have two lots of overseas visitors... Here is a photo of my completed BOM from Material Obsession by Sue Ross - I loved making it - I struggled with the fabrics as they were really not what I would pick - but I now love it!!! I changed the middle applique block as I did not fancy it - and added the hexagons - I am so happy with the end result. I intend to hand quilt this - I now have three quilts ready to hand quilt and this is second in line!!

In my absence I have also finally completed the blocks below and have the quilt top for this quilt completed (the first hand quilting project on the list) it is called Star Rose and a two versions of it are featured in Material Obsession 2 - a great book!!! by Kathy Doughty and Sarah Fielke. I will post a picture tomorrow of the finished top - lots of orange!!
I have also just received Rosalie Quinlan's new range Sweet Broderie from Retromummy (see below) - yet to decide what to make - it is just so lovely.

We also made our halloween pumpkin - a new tradition in our house in recent years (thanks to our American friends the Hipps). Sadly not one visitor came to the door - which meant we had a lot of treats to consume...
My 6 year old has also been cooking up a storm, thanks to Junior Masterchef - I missed getting a photo of the amazing Apple pie, but remembered for the Friars Omelette (yum) and the pancakes.
So I have plenty of time to quilt and get out walking. So far the weather has been kind for the walking and I am almost finished piecing together my Sue Ross block of the month from Material Obsession - I did not like the appliqued centre block they provided so have gone with the hexagons in the picture.. I need to clear the decks as I prepare for the arrival of my next project!!!!
Two days at a fantastic venue in Cammeray was so relaxing and I have learnt so much. I am a complete beginner at machine applique/quilting but I really could see the I could get a good result with practice..... Kelly was such fun with great stories, full of information to help and just great company. I spent the weekend sitting with some lovely ladies and just felt relaxed the whole time. Dinner on Saturday night at Papaya (Thai) was yum as usual and I was fascinated by the ladies and their great blogs - enough so I am actually posting on mine. Thanks Corrie, Kelly and ladies for a wonderful weekend. Photos are courtesy of Retromummy.. Thank you....
